100 public poppies for Armistice centenary
A man who took it upon himself to ensure that Sandbach was decorated with poppies for the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War One has said he is “made up” with the community’s response.
Ryan van Emmenis, (36), placed 100 poppies on lampposts around the town on Monday, which were funded by donations and sponsorships from residents and businesses. The money raised, which has exceeded £1,000, will now be donated to the Royal British Legion.
