Capricorn plans would provide ‘low grade’ jobs
Town councillors have objected to a developer’s plans for a mixed-use scheme on the outskirts of Sandbach, which would include offices, a hotel, a pub and a McDonald’s, arguing it would not provide “high quality employment”.
Applicant W&S Sand-bach owns the land, which is bound by Old Mill Road and the M6 northbound slip road in Sandbach, and hopes to get approval for its plans on what has been dubbed the Capricorn site.
If approved, the site would feature two office blocks of 16,000 sq ft and 13,200 sq ft; a McDonald’s; a drive-through Costa Coffee; a 3,500 sq ft crèche; a 23,000 sq ft, 63-bedroom hotel; and a family pub and restaurant totalling 5,700 sq ft.
