Councillors pull together to decrease precept rise

Sandbach councillors from across the political divide agreed to reduce the council tax precept rise in the town to 0.04%.
Members of the town council’s Finance, Policy and Governance Committee lowered the precept increase down from an initial rise of 7.16%, at a meeting on Thursday.
There was little disagreement apart from independent Coun Mike O’Mahoney’s suggestion on two occasions that the council cut all of its proposed funding towards the skate park, which was quickly rebuffed both times.
The committee was told that reducing the total spend in the budget by £38,200 would result in a 0% rise in the precept.
