‘Friendly character’ who lived on the streets dies
One of Sandbach’s more colourful characters has sadly died (writes Stewart Green).
Known in the town for being dressed in military camouflage clothing, “Mick” — whose real name was Michael Charles Smallwood — was mainly living on the streets and in the park. He begged for small amounts of money, usually for a drink, and would “borrow” items from shops, making him a regular with the local police.
