‘Irreplaceable’ village campaigner has died

Tributes have been made to a “pillar of the community” who died on Saturday night at the age of 71.
Peter Wild, who lived at Oak Tree Lane, Cranage, was the editor of the web-based Cranage Chronicle and championed a number of local issues including noise pollution on the M6 and Sibelco’s planning application for a new sand quarry .
Mr Wild also owned and managed allotments in Cranage that some Goostrey residents leased.
