Man who jumped on tracks died of injuries
A Sandbach man died after jumping in front of a high-speed train with his wife, an inquest has concluded.
Stephen David Hall, of Offley Road, died at Stoke Royal Hospital aged 64 after jumping onto the tracks at Holmes Chapel train station after his wife Pamela.
Mrs Hall survived the impact of the Virgin train, which could have been travelling at over 100mph.
An inquest into Mr Hall’s death was held at Macclesfield Town Hall on Monday. After a two-hour hearing assistant coroner for Cheshire, Peter Sigee, concluded that Mr Hall had died from “shock and haemorrhage”.
However, he could not conclude whether it was a suicide because the possibility that he had jumped onto the tracks to push his wife out of the way was still open.
