Road closed for 12 weeks during sand quarry work
A road has been closed for 12 weeks so it can be widened as part of work in the development ofa sand quarry.
New Platt Lane in Cranage will operate as the entrance to Sibelco’s new sand quarry at Rudheath Lodge Farm, which received planning approval last year despite hundreds of objections from residents.
The road was closed on Monday until 27th March whilst the work is carried out by Dutton Contractors. Diversions have been put in place.
The quarry, which straddles Cranage and Allostock, will extract 3.3million tonnes of silica sand over a 12-year period.
