Row over town ranger’s ‘double taxation’ role
Frustrations spilled over at Sandbach Town Council’s Assets and Services Committee as members continued to discuss what the official role was for the town’s new handyman.
Councillors could not come to an agreement on the job description for the town council’s ranger, Neil Pepper, who was hired with the view of taking on odd jobs across the town such as litter picking, weeding and general maintenance.
However, Mr Pepper, who was hired in May 2019, has not been able to take on much work as concerns have been raised about him doing jobs that should be the responsibility of Cheshire East Council, which would mean “double taxation”.
