Trying to reduce pressure on busy town councillors
Sandbach Town Council tried to “alleviate some of the pressures” on counc-illors who are too busy to attend every meeting, by reducing the number required for meetings to go ahead.
Quoracy means to have enough members present at a council meeting to carry out business and cast votes. Currently, the standing orders of Sandbach Town Council dictates there should be a minimum of four members for a meeting to go ahead.
Chairing a meeting of the Finance and Governance Committee on Thursday night, Independent Coun David Jack suggested that this number was appropriate for meetings of the main committees, but that the number should be lowered for working groups.
