Staffs victorious after match of high drama
Cumberland v Staffs
After three days of drama, tension and plenty of high-class cricket, Staffordshire clinched a four wicket victory over home side Cumberland just after the tea interval on the final day at Netherfield Cricket Club in Kendal.
However, the chances of Staffs making it two wins out of two in the championship looked to be doomed early on the opening day when, after a number of sharply rising deliveries, the ball struck the Cumberland batsmen causing the umpires to take the players from the field with Cumberland 96-4.
