In November 2012 a large group of the Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust finally decided that they had had enough of the activities of their football club, and to set up an alternative institution that acted more in accord with their principles and values (writes Mike McLaughlin).
They chose “1874” as their name as that was the year that the original Northwich Victoria played their first formal match.
In April 2013 they joined the NWCFL Division One, and brokered a ground share deal with Winsford Utd. Support for them was considerable, an average attendance of 320 testimony, and they gained access to the Premier Division after just one season. In 2017-18 they enjoyed magnificent runs in the FA Cup, third qualifying round, and in the FA Vase, the semi-final.
