Neighbours Hanley Town welcomed the Bears on Easter Monday with hot temperatures and a tepid display (writes Mike McLaughlin).
Struggling against the threat of relegation, they were unable to offer much resistance to a confident Bears team and succumbed 4-0. Main, Morris, Henderson and Hasler-Cregg shared the goals in a very comfortable victory.
The weather for the final game of the season was, in contrast, appalling. The rain descended — hard, cruel and incessant, its effect exacerbated by a relentlessly strong and bitter wind. The sky was black or blacker still, and the light depressingly poor. Even the great, reassuring bulk of the Bosley Cloud was completely obliterated.
