Current unbeaten League leaders City of Liverpool are something of a phenomenon, almost certain to attract both acclaim and envy. Their hopes are high, their plans ambitious.
They were founded as recently as 2015 in order to plug an identified gap in Liverpool’s footballing infrastructure. It was perceived that, despite the vast numbers of players, managers and coaches generated within the city, there was no senior non-league team playing within, or representing the city.
Clad in purple, the civic colour of the city, and nicknamed “The Purps”, they joined Division One of the NWCFL in 2016/17.
