TRITON LADIES’ 1s 3
WILMSLOW LADIES’ 2s 5
(Division One)
After last week’s fine victory, the ladies’ 1s were disappointed to slip to a home defeat against Wilmslow in what turned out to be a close encounter throughout.
Initially Triton had the visitors on the back foot, pressing high and not allowing them the time to play out of defence. Unfortunately no clear-cut chances came from the pressure and it was Wilmslow that took the lead midway through the first half.
A second goal soon followed before Triton pulled one back, Ele Beetlestone pouncing at the back post to deflect the ball home.
However a straight strike from a penalty corner saw the visitors go into the break with a two-goal lead.
A strong start to the second half saw Michelle Price pull a goal back for the hosts, pouncing onto a defensive error and striking the ball past a stranded keeper.
Wilmslow stretched their lead again after a reverse stick strike from close range gave player of the match Emily Statham in the Triton goal no chance. Price again pulled a goal back after intercepting a defensive pass and striking at goal.
Triton battled hard until the final whistle but could not stop the visitors getting a fifth goal to complete the victory.
ALDERLEY EDGE LADIES’ 8s 1 TRITON LADIES’ 3s 4
(Division Six)
The ladies’ 3s produced a terrific performance away at Alderley Edge.
Player of the match Darcey Pawezowski opened the scoring with Lucy Salter and Georgia Krippner adding further goals.
Amanda Woolley celebrated a return from injury by scoring the fourth.
The team won the game with a combination of some brilliant passing up front and some excellent support from the midfield and defence.
