Away win for strong 2nd XV

(Howell and Co Division Four West)
Congleton 2nd XV travelled to Northwich on Saturday in a return fixture, captained by Andy Simms.
Congleton came unstuck early in the first quarter of the game dropping points due to ill-discipline. Yellow cards followed one after another during the next 20 minutes. Heads were down going into half-time but after some words of wisdom in the half-time huddle, the lads knew they needed to pull themselves together and attacked the second half with gusto.
After some superb teamwork, Ant Burkard delivered the pearl of all flat balls for Simms to catch mere metres out from the home team’s try line. A quick bit of footwork and Simms placed the ball over the line to the applause of the travelling supporters.
Following the conversion, the guys were now running on a high and there was now no holding the Congleton lads back and off went a rejuvenated team in search of more points.
Ball in hand they ripped through the Northwich defence. Shattering defenders left and right. Tom Schule and Matt Holbrook took turns to expose the now open and welcoming defence.
Tries from Schule, Kallan Keenan, Elliot Hartles and conversions from Mr Simms took the score to Northwich 27, Congleton 34.
Man of the match Matt Holbrook was provided with some outstanding support work from Anthony Burkard.
Congleton 1st team will take on Hoylake at home on Saturday.
Congleton 2nd team is scheduled to travel to Christleton for their match on Saturday.
