Congleton Harriers running club
It was a bittersweet weekend (14th and 15th) for Congleton Harrier’s cross-country runners (writes Nick Budd).
The bitterness was caused by the fact that the continually foul weather put paid to the final race in the North Staffs Cross Country League at Rodbaston. The continually wet weather meant that the farmer couldn’t harvest his maize crop and clear the final field used for the race.
It left many of the runners kicking their heels or looking for other running events to console themselves with. The upside was that it meant the overall standings from the first three races represented the final outcome of the series and the club did rather well.
