On a cold, foggy Thursday (10th January) afternoon, two children from Marton and District Primary School became Congleton cross-country champions.
The championship is contested across two separate dates — October and January.
It started with the years five and six girls’ race. Keeping sight of the runners was hard work due to thick fog, but emerging from the lead at a very early stage was Ellie Dixon, (9), from Marton. She managed to maintain the lead and then extended it over the rest of the field, eventually winning by a clear 400m.
