An artist who started painting as a hobby during the covid lockdown has evolved into receiving requests for commissions – and now has an exhibition raising money for Ruby’s Fund.
Deborah Lees has developed her skills in both painting and drawing.
She mainly uses watercolours, but also produces pieces using acrylics, oil pastel, coloured pencil, soft pastel, graphite and ink pen.
She enjoys painting local landscapes in Congleton and across Cheshire, and also enjoys painting portraits of people and pets in addition to sporting scenes.
Her work will now be on display at the offices of Spall Clark Solicitors. An exhibition preview evening will take place between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Thursday, 23rd October at Oak House, 3, Swan Bank, Congleton.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided. Attending the exhibition is free, but donations are very welcome to Ruby’s Fund.
Ms Lees has agreed to donate 15% of the proceeds of sale of her artwork to Ruby’s Fund.
Anyone who would like to attend should call 01260 769 639 to book a place. Alternatively, email Becky Spall at becky.spall@spallclark.co.uk. Numbers are limited so please do book ahead.

Ruby’s Fund services include an inclusive sensory centre with soft play, sensory garden, and community café; a mobile sensory bus and outreach sessions for families unable to access the centre, and therapies and wellbeing sessions, including parent carer counselling, relaxation treatments, and educational workshops.
Founded in 2009 by Alison Parr after her daughter Ruby was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder, the charity was born when Ms Parr saw the gaps in support for families of special needs youngsters.
Ruby’s Fund offers person-centred early help interventions to reduce family crisis and promote wellbeing. It also offers peer support and respite opportunities including social events and groups for siblings.
It is hoped the exhibition will remain until the end of the year.
