A beloved and devoted wife, mum, mother-in-law, grandma, great-grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and a very dear friend to many past and present. Irene will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all her loving family. HANCOCK (William Albert, MICE, MIC Mun E, LLTCL, LLCM). With great sadness we announce his unexpected but blessedly swift passing. At his home in Congleton, on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, aged 98 years. Husband to Gladys; loved father of Pauline, Susan, Granville and Jane; father-in-law to Dave, John M, John B and Susana; cherished granddad to Mark and Karen, Sarah and Rebecca, Genevieve, David, Sonja, Rory and Eleanor (NZ), Aaron, James and Bethany; beloved great-granddad to Samuel, Megan and Bethan, Basil, Scarlett and Rosie (NZ), Marlo and Quinn (NZ), Phoebe, Alexa and Charlotte (NZ), Blake, Evie, Hunter-Joe and Eden (NZ), Eleanor and Charlotte, Connor and Logan (Bermuda), and Rosie and Holly, and great-great-granddad to Louie, Charlie and Brodie. His was a tremendous, irrepressible and irreplaceable presence, truly larger than life. He will be hugely missed by his family and his many, many friends. Particularly those in music, from the South Cheshire Orchestra, the Newcastle Strings, which he led, the music schools he organised and the many string ensembles he played in. The dearly beloved husband of Barbara; devoted dad to Paul and the late Anthony and Simon; a dearest father-in-law and granddad, and a dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend who will be truly missed and was fortified with the rites of the Holy Catholic Church RIP on whose soul sweet Jesus have mercy.
