I am writing to ask for your help with a missing person appeal that Cheshire Police has issued. Ian Smith, who is 83 and lives with dementia and is extremely vulnerable, left his home in Upton, Chester, at around 5.30am on Sunday in his white Skoda, registration KS70 WTR. The car was picked up by a camera in Middlewich at about 8am and there has been nothing since. He has no identification on him and it is now dark and cold.
More than a hundred family members, friends and volunteers have been searching since this morning, with drones and a police helicopter, and have covered Sandbach, Congleton, Alsager, Biddulph, Mow Cop, Holmes Chapel, Brereton, Bosley and the lanes between them among many other areas, with posters in pubs, petrol stations and shops. We will be out again at first light. Your readers are exactly the people who might see the car in a lay-by, a field gateway or a quiet car park.
The details that matter most are the registration KS70 WTR and that he may be sitting in the parked car somewhere quiet rather than in a town. Anyone who sees Ian or the car should ring 999; any other information to 101 quoting IML-2440528.
