Businesses in Congleton town centre “came alive with festive cheer” for the annual Christmas window dressing competition.
Each year, shop windows are transformed with eye-catching and imaginative displays as they compete for the coveted top prize.
The council’s town centre and events manager, Rachel McCarthy, said: “We’ve had another fantastic response this year, with an exceptionally high standard of entries.
“Each year we see businesses investing more time, creativity and effort into their displays. The competition not only spreads Christmas cheer throughout the town but also strengthens community engagement and encourages residents to support our local independent traders during this important time of year.”
She said a panel of representatives faced the “enjoyable, yet challenging” task of judging the entries, which were assessed on overall impact, creativity, effort, and seasonal appropriateness.
After careful deliberation and scoring, Bare Health on High Street managed to take the top spot for the third consecutive year.
Second place went to The Coffee House in Bridestones Shopping Centre, which opened its doors for the first time earlier this year, while Chris Hamriding Lettings and Estate Agents on High Street came third.
The winning businesses were presented with certificates and a share of the cash prize by mayor Coun Robert Brittain.
Mel Ratcliffe, owner of Bare Health, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have received first place for the third year in a row.
“There were so many beautiful and creative displays across the town, and it’s been wonderful to see Congleton looking so vibrant and festive. We’re truly grateful to be part of such a supportive local community.”
Coun Brittain, said: “Well done to every business that took part and helped create such a welcoming festive atmosphere across the town centre and High Town.
“Christmas is the busiest time of year for retailers, and the commitment shown by local businesses to enhance the town despite their busy schedules is commendable.
“I encourage residents and visitors alike to enjoy the displays and support our local shops this Christmas.”
As well as the top prize winners, all participating businesses received highly commended or commended certificates to display in their windows to recognise their efforts.
The town’s Christmas lights will be illuminated daily from 3pm to 11pm throughout the festive season and into the new year.
The town hall has also been brought to life with a special Christmas projection, running until 4th January between 4pm and midnight.
Whittaker and Biggs was thanked by the council for providing office space for the projection equipment, as well as Lightec for delivering the “stunning” festive display.
