Biddulph’s mayor held her Civic Sunday at the town’s Methodist Church.
Coun Charlie Smith was joined by family, other mayors from across the area and civic guests for a service led by minister and Biddulph town councillor the Rev Yanyan Case.
Coun Smith thanked everyone for taking time out on Father’s Day to be with her.
She also thanked those behind the scenes, including Greenway Bank WI for helping in the kitchen, as well as Sarah Haydon and Jodie Hancock at Biddulph Town Council.
Coun Smith posted on social media: “Thank you to my family, friends and colleagues for being there for us as a family on this special occasion. To those who spoke, my children for taking part in the service and to all who belted out the hymns so all in Biddulph could hear.”
She also thanked the Methodist Church and The Victoria Centre for hosting Civic Sunday “and for Yanyan for preaching a very poignant and thoughtful service”.
Coun Smith said: “It was a wonderful service full of positivity and Sunday school hits, followed by a wonderful buffet with homemade cakes, accompanied by some lively music on the ukeleles by Biddulph Ukelele Group. Thanks to them for coming and sharing their songs with us.”
