Organisers hailed Alsager’s fourth Pride event on Saturday a “tremendous success”.
Hundreds of people descended on the town centre for an afternoon of “glorious sunshine” that was packed with entertainment.
Celebrations kicked-off with a parade through the town, starting at the corner of Crewe Road and Church Road. Festival-goers marched to Alsager Cricket Club’s newly-refurbished outdoor seating area.
Visitors milled around an array of stalls and were treated to food and entertainment throughout the day, including performances from Alsager High School rock band Velvetone, Cheshire Pop Choir, singer/songwriter, Emily Lockett and entertainer Andy Hofton of X Factor fame.
Comperes John Mayer and Fonda D kept the audience laughing and Cheshire’s own veteran drag queen Dolly, was a special guest.
The event ended with a bang when the stage had to be dismantled early due to thunder and lightning, but not before a performance from headline act, singer Kelley Tigerheart.
Drag Queen Stella Black kept guests entertained into the night with a performance at Radway Social Club.
Deputy mayor Coun Michael Unett, who officially opened the event, said: “It was a tremendous success. The weather was glorious sunshine, we were only caught out in the last 15 minutes when the lightning started to appear.
“The attendance was fantastic. It was an all-round enjoyable day.”
