Le Cygne Noir: Repainted

This is the first AI album I’ve (knowingly) listened to; it’s about as you’d expect — polished, slick and a little remote.
Le Cygne Noir says he prides himself on making music from scratch with real musicians and avoiding anything AI-generated, but this time he uploaded 13 carefully chosen tracks (“some songs just didn’t sound right to me”) and started honing and “creating” these versions through AI.
Other than choosing the versions and writing the songs in the first place, he hasn’t played a note.
He says he picked the “epic” versions, and they are indeed epic: the massive, stadium-filling sound of a poppier Guns N’ Roses, with big beats, air-guitar solos and plenty going on. First play-through, it’s great; second play-through, it’s a little soulless. I’m not sure I’d return to it often. It’s almost ITALICS too good — the humanity has been polished out.
Fans of the Foos, Def Leppard or that sort of generic stadium-rock might enjoy it, though it does have a more indie feel in places. Johnny Marr on steroids, maybe.
You can’t really go wrong, though. “Repainted” is only £1 on Bandcamp, “because I am racked with guilt and don’t believe this warrants charging full price,” says the AI-averse performer.
