Experienced rower Gail Wolstenholme of Congleton will be giving an illustrated talk at St Peter’s Church on Chapel Street on Tuesday (28th April) at 11.30am, all about the challenges and preparations to row across the Atlantic in 2027.
A team of five passionate rowers is united by a shared love for the sea and a drive for adventure. They have years of experience in coastal and fine rowing, always looking to the horizon with one goal in mind: to row across an ocean.
They take on the Atlantic Challenge, rowing 3,000 miles from La Gomera to Antigua starting in December next year. The crew will have an average age of over 50.
Their mission is to champion health, fitness and bold new challenges for those over 50 and beyond – as well as raising money for charity.
The crew hails from the North West of England and Colorado, USA. They train in the waters off the coast of North Wales. From December 2027 to January 2028, they will row from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.
St Peter’s will be open from 10am – refreshments will be available for a small charge. Admission is free and all donations will go to supporting the charities.
