A new, free family programme opens at Congleton Bath House and Physic Garden on Sunday, 28th June, from 11am to 4pm, and then every Saturday throughout July and August.
Garden Stories will see families explore the garden through five interactive stations, following the story of a sleepy bear who wakes up in the Bath House and needs help discovering the garden around him.
Participants will discover the Physic Garden and its medicinal plants, the cold plunge pool and Victorian treatment, garden leisure and post-war allotments.
They will be able to search for useful herbs and natural remedies, follow the garden trail, solve puzzles, dance, jump and play, make a soothing lavender bag for the bear, and enjoy Victorian-style games and hands-on activities.
The programme is designed for families and is especially suitable for children aged four plus.
On the opening day, there will be even more to enjoy, including a professional herbalist running children’s activities throughout the day, refreshments, music, and volunteers in Victorian-style dress helping to bring the garden’s stories to life.
The Bath House and Physic Garden organisers thanked all the volunteers who have helped to develop and prepare the programme.
More volunteers are welcome to help bring Garden Stories to life over the summer, supporting activity stations, welcoming families, helping with games and assisting visitors as they explore the trail. No previous experience is needed, and guidance will be provided.
To help, complete the volunteer application form online at congletonbhpg.co.uk/garden-stories or email bhpgcongleton@gmail.com.
The programme has been made possible thanks to the support of Congleton Inclosure Trust.
