Quintette du Hot Club d’Alsager

By popular demand, Alsager Golf and Country Club Jazz Society is once again showcasing an evening of Gypsy Jazz on Thursday, 14th September.

For what is now becoming something of a tradition at the club, Julian Gregory, Matthew Compton and Paul Hartley are combining for a night of high-energy Hot Club-style jazz.

Having been a member of the BBC Philharmonic for more than 35 years, Gregory is one of most technically brilliant violinists around. Primarily playing in the Parisian style made famous by Stéphane Grappelli and Django, Gregory also draws inspiration from a diverse mix of Latin, Bluegrass, Funk and even Celtic traditional music.

For full authenticity, the band will feature accordion player Compton as well as Hartley on guitar and house musicians Peter Robinson (bass) and Roger Keay (drums).

It starts at 8pm at the golf club (ST7 2UR); all are welcome, £7 cash at the door, with a raffle.
