Highways officers are continuing to monitor the “Holmes Chapel roller coaster”, Cheshire East Council has said – but the cashstrapped council said it would only be repaired when money was available and not before the new financial year.
The railway bridge on Station Road has developed dips in the road surface either side. This is especially noticeable on the Congleton side, where there is a deeper hollow, prompting a letter to the “Chronicle” comparing the dip to a roller coaster.
The dip is still there, and the “Chronicle” asked the council when it was likely to be repaired.
A spokesperson said: “Station Road has been identified for surfacepatching works in the next financial year, once additional resources and budget become available.
“In the meantime, the condition of the road will continue to be monitored through routine and adhoc safety inspections and any actionable defects identified will be addressed to ensure the route remains safe for road users.”
