ARMITT (William Alan, “Alan”). Peacefully on Sunday, 17th May 2026, Alan, aged 82 years, formerly of Astbury and late of Congleton. The devoted husband of Pauline and loving dad of Mark. ASTBURY (Joyce). Peacefully passed away at Park Lane Care Home, Knypersley, on Monday, 8th June 2026, with her loving family by her side, Joyce, aged 93, of Knyperlsey. The beloved wife of the late Jack (“John”); dearly loved mum and mum-in-law of Gillian, Ian, Undra and the late Ed; a much-loved nan to Steph, Vicky, Celina and Connor, and also a great-gran of Erin and Matthew. Joyce will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her very loving family and dear friends. A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 10.30am on Friday, 26th June at New Road Methodist Church, Biddulph Moor. Family and friends wishing to attend should please meet at the church. BOWKER (Eileen). Peacefully on 5th June 2026, at home, Eileen aged 83 years, of Congleton. The dearly loved and devoted wife of the late John; loving mum of Gillian; dear mother-in-law of Christopher, and a cherished and treasured grandma of Hayley. The cortege is to leave her home on Thursday, 25th June at 10.15am for a service and cremation at Macclesfield Crematorium at 10.45am. GROCOTT (John). Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 27th May 2026, aged 86 years. A loved son to the late Arthur and Doris; caring uncle to Christopher, Anne and husband Stephen, and loving great-uncle to Edward, Alice and Susannah. John will be fondly missed by all family and friends. The funeral service to be held at All Saints’ Church, Church Lawton’ on Wednesday, 1st July at 11am. HOLLAND (Kathleen Gwen, née Ball). Peacefully passed away at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, on Tuesday, 26th May 2026, with her devoted and very loving daughter by her side, Kathleen, aged 81, of Biddulph. The wife of the late Arthur; dearly loved mum and mum-in-law of Deborah and Mark; a much-loved nana to Sophia and Samuel; a special sister of Doreen and Raymond, and a very dear auntie and sister-in-law. Kathleen will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by her very loving family and dear friends. A service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, 30th June at St Lawrence’s Church, Biddulph, followed by interment at Woodhouse Burial Ground. NEWINGTON (Caleb). Caleb, aged 91 years, passed peacefully away in hospital on Monday, 25th May 2026. The loving husband of the late Avril; cherished dad of Sharen, Heather, Rosemary and Avril, and a much-loved father-in law, granddad and great-granddad. Caleb will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. The funeral service will take place on Monday, 6th July at St James’s Church, Breightmet, Bolton, at 1pm, followed by burial at Tonge Cemetery, Bolton. Family flowers only by request. PUGH (Garry). Passed away peacefully on 9th June 2026, Garry, aged 88 years, of Sandbach, formerly Rode Heath. The devoted husband of Joan; dearly loved Dad to Robert, David and the late Helen; loving brother to Mary, and a much-loved granddad and great granddad. Family flowers only. The funeral service is to be held at St John’s Church, Sandbach Heath, on Tuesday, 30th June at 11.30am, followed by interment in the churchyard. STREET (Elizabeth, “Liz”). Elizabeth passed away peacefully on Monday, 8th June 2026 at Astbury Mere Care Home, surrounded by her loving family, aged 78. The cherished wife of Ray; loving mum to Helen; dear mother-in-law of Mark and much-loved grandma of Leah and Jonah. Liz will be lovingly remembered for her fun and warm nature, her strength of character, her love of horses, dogs and gardens, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. The funeral will be held at Birches Crematorium, Northwich, at 11.30am on Wednesday, 1st July. Will friends please accept this notice as an invitation to join us in celebrating Liz’s life. The family are truly grateful for all the kind messages of condolences and cards and flowers that have been sent in Liz’s memory. We request that instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK in memory of Liz. WICHELOW (Frances Anne). Peacefully and with her two sons at her bedside, Frances died at home in Mossley, Congleton, on Friday, 12th June, aged 88. She was the widow of Jeb Wichelow, who died in 2019, and is survived by her loving sons Sam and Tom; daughter-in-laws Sally and Cas, and six grandchildren Charlie, Freddie, Ralph, Eve, Felix and Edith. Her funeral will be at Macclesfield crematorium on Monday, 6th July at 12.15pm. Family flowers only, and any donations to Hospice at Home who helped both Frances and Jeb so much in their final days.
