Death Notices, 9th September, 2021

ALLCOCK (James Stuart, “Jim” or Stuart). Sadly passed away on 25th August 2021 at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice after a short illness, James aged 87 years, of Harriseahead. The beloved husband of the late Beryl Allcock; much-loved dad of Jill, Jane and the late Phillip; dear father-in-law of Steve and Laurence; treasured granddad of Jonathan, Tim, Samantha, Joe, Jeorgia, Harry, Mollie and the late Stephanie; a cherished great-granddad; very dear brother of Marjorie and Mary, and a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He will be very sadly missed. The funeral is to take place on Monday, 20th September. A service will be held at Swan Bank Methodist Church, Burslem, at 10.30am prior to cremation at Carmountside crematorium. Friends wishing to attend kindly meet at the church. ALLEN (Roy). Peacefully passed away at Royal Stoke University Hospital on 30th August 2021, with his loving family by his side, Roy aged 71 years. The dearly loved son of the late Harry and Gladys; much-loved dad of Nicola and Lee; dear father–in-law of John and Michelle, and loving granddad of Liam, Holly, Poppy, Lilly, Leah, Ryan and Kingslee. Roy will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his family and friends. A funeral service and committal to celebrate the life of Roy is to take place at Bradwell Crematorium on Wednesday, 15th September at 12.40pm. BROUGH (Joan, nee Eardley). Passed peacefully on 21st August 2021, at Smiddybrae House, Orkney, Joan, aged 83 years, previously of Davenport Street, Congleton, and Park Lane, Macclesfield. The dearly loved wife of the late Ken, and much-loved mum of Nicholas, Timothy and Lisa. The funeral service will be at St James the Great Church, Congleton, on Wednesday, 15th September at 1.30pm. HARRISON (Joseph, “Joe”). Peacefully on 18th August 2021, at Macclesfield District General Hospital, Joseph “Joe” Duke, aged 90 years, of Congleton. The dearly loved and devoted husband of the late Annie Harrison; loving stepdad of Janet; dear father-in-law of George, and a dear brother of Harriett and Thelma. The funeral service and cremation are to take place at Macclesfield Crematorium on Tuesday, 14th September. Family flowers only; donations if desired to the RSPCA. MADDOCK (Barry). Passed away peacefully on 29th August 2021, Barry aged 82 years. The devoted husband to the late Vera; much-loved Dad to Susan, Kath and Stephen, and a special granddad to many. The funeral service is to take place on Wednesday, 15th September at Vale Royal Crematorium, Northwich, at 11am. O’DONOGHUE (Francis, “Frank”). Peacefully on 22nd August 2021, at Wythenshawe Hospital, Francis “Frank,” aged 84 years, of Somerford Booths. The dearly-loved brother of Michael and Patrick; dear brother-in-law of Doris; a loving uncle to Shelly, Karl, Mark, Darren, Petra, Kevin, Diane, Gillian, Chris and Robert, and brother-in-law of Doris. The funeral service is to take place at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Congleton, on Monday, 13th September at 2pm, prior to interment at St Mary’s Church, Astbury. PRICE (Ivy Lilian). On 28th August 2021, of Anglesey and formerly of Edgeview Road, Mossley, passed away peacefully at Fairways Newydd, Llanfairpwll, aged 93 years. The beloved wife of the late Ernest Edward (Ted); loving mother of Caroline, Simon and the late Nicholas; mother-in-law of Helen and Nicky; proud Nain of Annie, Bethan, Vicky and Bronwen and devoted Naini of Mali, and dear sister of Clifford. Ivy will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. The funeral service and committal are at Bangor Crematorium on Friday, 10th September at 11am. SHORT (Michael John, “Mick”). Passed away suddenly but peacefully at Southmead Hospital, surrounded by his loving daughters, on Tuesday, 31st August 2021, aged 70 years. Mick was a loving Dad, Grampy and Uncle. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. The funeral service is to take place at the Forest of Dean Crematorium on Thursday, 23rd September at 2.30pm. Family flowers only please.
