MP Karen Bradley has announced the launch of her new initiative The Year of the Moorlands Village.
Prior to the general election, Dame Karen ran the A Year of Reasons to Visit the Moorlands initiative, when she featured some of the many reasons why people should visit “the very special area that we live in”.
She said: “It was fantastic to promote just some of our local businesses, organisations, special places and events.”
She explained: “As this was so successful, I have decided to launch a new initiative, again to promote the Staffordshire Moorlands constituency – The Year of the Moorlands Village.
“As a rural constituency, our villages form an important part of the local area. Each one is different and I have decided, starting from June, for a whole year, to feature a group of villages each month on my social media and website.”
Anyone who lives in one of the villages in the Staffordshire Moorlands constituency and has a photo or a story about the village to share, can email Dame Karen on karen.bradley.mp@parliament.uk and she will include it when it comes to that village’s turn.
She said she was keen to include historical photos and hear stories from local residents about the villages in the past.
In addition, every month, there will be a bespoke survey on her website for residents in the villages being highlighted.
She said: “I am here to help, whether it’s concerns that are of importance to the village as a whole or more individual cases.
“I hope that you will keep an eye on my website for the announcements of the monthly group of villages – I am excited about promoting the many villages in the Staffordshire Moorlands constituency and showing the world all that we have to offer.”
