ALLEN (John). Peacefully on 27th March 2024, John, aged 80, of Congleton. The dearly loved and devoted husband of the late June; loving dad of John, Diane, Andrew, Catherine and the late Michelle, and a cherished and treasured granddad and great-granddad. The cortege is to leave his daughter’s home on Monday, 15th April at 10.45am for a service at St Stephen’s Church, Congleton, at 11am, prior to interment at St Mary’s Church, Astbury. BENTLEY (Valerie Anne, “Val”). Passed away peacefully after a short illness, Val, aged 75. The devoted wife of the late Austin William Bentley, of Bradley Village and formerly of Knypersley; dearly loved mum of Mark and his partner Joanne; cherished nan of Larissa and Caitlin; loved sister of the late David Large; sister-in-law of Jill and Kevin, and a dear auntie and great-auntie. Val will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service is to be held to celebrate the life of Val at St John’s Church, Knypersley, on Tuesday, 16th April at 11am, followed by interment at Biddulph Town Burial Ground. CHARLESWORTH (Hilda). Peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side at Douglas Macmillan Hospice on 4th April 2024, Hilda, aged 86, of Biddulph. The devoted wife of the late Charlie; dearly loved mum of Steve and Cath; cherished mother-in-law of Chris and Dave; doting nan and great-nan, beloved sister, sister-in-law and auntie, and a very dear friend to many. Hilda will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family and friends. COLLEY (Martyn Charles). Died peacefully at home on 26th March 2024, Martyn, aged 86, of Sandbach. The cherished husband of Jane; much-loved dad to Martyn, Simon, Kate, Ellen and Ashi, and a special grandpa and great-grandpa. The funeral service is to be held at St Mary’s Church, Sandbach, on Thursday, 18th April at 1pm, followed by interment at Sandbach Cemetery. COLLINS (Sandra). Peacefully on 26th March 2024 at home, Sandra, aged 81, of Harriseahead. The dearly loved and devoted wife of the late Harold Collins; loving mum of Linda, Julie, Mark and Richard; dear mother-in-law of Lee, Neil, Andrea and Dawn and a cherished and treasured nana and great-nana. A service and cremation are to take place at Macclesfield Crematorium on Tuesday, 16th April at 2pm. GARRIGAN (David Alexander). David Alexander Garrigan, of Congleton and formerly of Chichester, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on 1st April 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Son of Jeanne and the late Jack; beloved husband of Bianca; loving brother to John and Sue, Michael and Helen; proud dad to Rosie and step-dad to Mike, James and Linh, and granddad to Forest and Sam. David was proud to have served his country for 22 years in the Queen’s Royal Hussars Regiment. The funeral will be held at The Birches Crematorium, Lach Dennis, near Northwich, on 29th April, at 2pm. HADDOCK (Millicent). Peacefully on 1st April 2024 at Westbourne Care Home, Holmes Chapel, Millicent, aged 96, of Congleton. The dearly loved and devoted wife of the late Richard “Dick” Haddock; loving mum of Roy, Sylvia and Eileen, and a cherished and treasured gran, great-gran and great-great-gran. The cortege is to leave her daughter Eileen’s residence on Tuesday, 30th April at 1.15pm for a service at St Peter’s Church, Congleton, at 1.30pm, prior to committal at Macclesfield Crematorium. The loving husband of Marion; treasured dad of Robert and Angela; a dear father-in-law to Stuart; devoted granddad of Charlotte, Bradley and Rhys, and a much-loved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and a very good friend and neighbour to many. SIMPSON (Robert, “Bob”). We are sad to announce the death of George Robert Simpson (Robert or Bob), who passed away on Tuesday, 26th March 2024. A memorial and funeral service will be held at Christ Church, Church Lane, Alsager, ST7 2HS, for friends and family to attend on Thursday, 25th April at 11am, followed by a celebration of his life at Alsager Golf Club, Linley Lane, Alsager, ST7 2UF from noon onwards. STIRLING (Lorna Elizabeth). Passed away peacefully on 18th March 2024 at Macclesfield District General Hospital, Lorna, aged 85. The devoted wife of the late Bert; loved mum of Colin and Alasdair; dear mother-in-law of Rachel; treasured granny of Emily, Dan, Alex and Hannah, and dearly missed sister of Margot. The funeral service is to be held at Macclesfield Crematorium on Tuesday, 23rd April at 2pm followed by a service at Macclesfield United Reformed Church at 3pm. The devoted and beloved husband of the late Ivy; treasured dad of John, Paul, Michael and Julie; dearest father-in-law to Angela, Sandra, Belinda and Gareth, a cherished granddad and great-granddad, and a very dear friend and neighbour to many. Jack will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and friends. The funeral service will take place at Biddulph Methodist Church on Tuesday, 30th April at 11.30am prior to a committal service at Carmountside Crematorium. WOOD (Patricia, nee Downing). Patricia passed away unexpectedly on Monday, 1st April 2024 at Macclesfield District General Hospital surrounded by her loving family, aged 80. The cherished wife of the late John; loving mum to Michael and Maria, and much-loved grandma / great-grandma of Jade, Natalie, Sophie, Georgia, Owen, Lucas, Lexi-Mae, Olivia, Marshall and Dottie. Patricia will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humour, warm personality, friendly smile, strength of character, words of wisdom and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. The funeral will be held at St Peter’s Church, Congleton, at noon on Wednesday, 24th April. Will friends please accept this notice as an invitation to join us in celebrating Patricia’s life. Following the service, friends are warmly invited to join Patricia’s family at the Unicorn pub, Congleton, for food and refreshments.
