Death Notices, 22nd February 2024

CLAY (Kenneth, “Ken”). Peacefully on Wednesday, 7th February 2024 at Royal Stoke University Hospital, Ken, aged 93, of Biddulph Moor. The dearly devoted and beloved husband of the late Sylvia; treasured dad of Susan; cherished granddad of Oliver, Aliss, Gabriel and their partners; loving great-granddad of Reuben, Maeve, Sukjai and Lily, and a dear friend and neighbour to many. Ken will be sadly missed by all his loving family and friends. A service of celebration and thanksgiving will take place at New Road Methodist Church, Biddulph Moor, on Monday, 26th February at 10.30am prior to interment into the churchyard. Will relatives please accept this, the only intimation, and would friends wishing to attend kindly meet for the service. MITFORD (Michael John, “Mick”). Peacefully on Wednesday, 14th February 2024 while in the care of staff at Douglas Macmillan Hospice, Mick, aged 91, of Biddulph. The devoted and beloved husband of the late Doreen; treasured dad of Beryl and Dawn; a dear father-in-law to Reg and Mark; cherished and doting “Gramp” of Holly and Daisy and her partner Brian; loving “Great-Gramp” of Theodore, a dearest brother, brother-in-law, uncle and a very good friend and neighbour to many. Mick will be sadly missed but affectionally remembered by all his loving family and friends. A service of celebration will take place at Bradwell Crematorium on Friday, 1st March at 2.40pm. MOUNTAIN (Laura). Laura passed away peacefully on Saturday, 10th February 2024 at Astbury Mere Care Home surrounded by her loving family, aged 84. The cherished wife of the late Dennis; loving mum to Julie and Jane; much-loved grandma of Becky, Lance, Kelly, Nikki and Charlie, and great-grandmother to Ryan, Ellie, Alex, Thomas, Lara and Matilda. Laura will be dearly missed by her family. She was well known around Congleton from working in Stuart’s shop. The funeral will be held at Hill Top Methodist Church, Biddulph Moor, at 11am on Friday, 8th March. Will friends please accept this notice as an invitation to join us in celebrating Laura’s life. The family is truly grateful for all the kind messages of condolence and cards that have been sent in Laura’s memory. We request that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Stroke Association. A donation box will be available at the service. However, donations can be sent via the funeral directors. NOWAK (Sheila). Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 7th February 2024. The beloved wife of the late Stanislaw (Stano); dearly loved mother to Paul; loving mother-in-law of Sally, and loving grandma to Eddie, Tom, Ali and Joe. The funeral service is at Holmsford Bridge Crematorium, Dreghorn, KE11 4EF, on Friday, 1st March at 2.30pm, thereafter to Gailes Hotel, Irvine, for 3.30pm to which all friends are invited. WHARTON (Michael). Passed away suddenly at his home on 6th February 2024, Michael, aged 73, of Moreton, Congleton, the only child of the late Charles and Gladys Wharton. Michael will be missed by family, friends and all who knew him. WILLIAMS (Stephen, “Stevo”). Suddenly on 1st February 2024, Stephen “Stevo” Barry Alexander, aged 61, of Congleton. The dearly loved dad of Emma; loving brother of Cathy and Adrian; dear brother-in-law of Anita; cherished granddad of Nell and a loving and devoted boyfriend to Denise. The cortege is to leave his home on Friday, 8th March at 1.40pm for a service and cremation at Birches Crematorium at 2.30pm.
