Knypersley’s first team came off second best in a rain-affected game at Audley on Saturday after looking on course to achieve their Duckworth Lewis adjusted target.

From a strong position of 103 for one they collapsed to 126 all out and were beaten by 30 runs.

Former Warwickshire pace man Recordo Gordon did the damage with figures of 5/10 and he was well supported by John Shenton, who claimed 3/28. This was after Knypersley had made a strong start to their reply with Louis Washington 53 and Sam Wilcox 43 putting them well on their way to their target of 157 from 25 overs. After their departures, the rest of the batting perished in the run chase.

Earlier, Knypersley had reduced the home side to 105/5 before a sixth wicket unbeaten partnership of 110 enabled Audley to reach 218/5 from their 40 overs.

Staffordshire’s Rob Hemmings finished unbeaten on 67 and Gordon struck four sixes in a quickfire 48 not out.

Audley claimed the 18 points for the win and Knypersley’s eight points sees them sitting in fourth place in the table.

2nd X1
Knypersley’s 2nd XI came out on top against visitors Moddershall and Oulton in a match reduced to 35 overs a side.

The visitors were indebted to 44 from Ravi Lindamulage in reaching 116 all out off 29.4 overs with two wickets each for Jacob Cumberbatch. Jack Muni and skipper Darren Washington.

Openers Craig Walley with 42 and Mitchell Edwards 26 saw Knypersley well on their way and they passed their target for the loss of four wickets with two overs to spare as they moved up to fourth spot in their division.
