Rode Hall’s Just So has announced its early line-up for this year’s family-friendly festival.
Live music comes from the Hyde Family Jam (ITALICS pictured). Expect high-energy pop covers with a folk twist, guaranteed to get audiences dancing.
The award-winning band is renowned for its unique folk-pop sound that has taken its members from busking in York, where they remain true to their roots, to major festivals and even feature in two Netflix movies.
Saturday night headliners at The Shindig are Klonk, an eight-piece party and festival band from the hills and valleys of Yorkshire. Klonk take traditional Eastern European melodies and mash them up with funk, metal, disco and hip-hop to create kick-ass gypsy funk.
Sunday night headliner at The Shindig is singer and multi-instrumentalist King Zepha, with a seven-piece band. Expect original music that fuses ska, rocksteady, soul, jazz and global rhythms.
Described by Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music) as “breathtaking”, and hailed as legendary reggae producer Dennis Bovell’s “current favourite”, King Zepha’s music features wailing horns, thunderous double bass, dub delays and stunning three-part vocal harmonies.
Making his regular appearance is Ian Douglas, with his campfire stories.
Gather round the glowing embers of the Just So campfire and settle in for tall tales and beautifully woven stories, told by master storyteller Ian Douglas.
Also on the programme is the 80s Ultimate Party Gameshow. Just So favourite Dizzy O’Dare is back with a new 80s show for the whole family.
For those who prefer a quieter time, “The Museum of Memorable Trees” is a miniature exhibition on wheels. Discover stories of great trees that have woven themselves into people’s lives and memories.
Just So-ers over the years have fought with jelly, with water, with pillows and with blancmange. This year it’s odd socks! Festival-goers should take their stripy, spotty and holey socks for the Odd Sock Skirmish.
Just So is a family-friendly festival of freedom and wonder in the grounds of Rode Hall, with play, music, circus and theatre.
