Romani jazz at Alsager

On Thursday, 1st July, Julian Gregory, Matthew Compton and Paul Hartley are teaming up once again for a night of high-energy gypsy jazz at Alsager Golf Club Jazz Society.

Having been a member of the BBC Philharmonic for the past 35 years, there is no disputing that Gregory is one of most technically brilliant violinists around. Primarily playing in the Parisian Hot Club style made famous by Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, Gregory also draws inspiration from a diverse mix of Latin, Bluegrass, Funk and even Celtic traditional music.

For full authenticity, the band will include accordion player Compton as well as Hartley (guitar) and house musicians Peter Robinson (bass) and Roger Keay (drums).

It starts at 8pm at the golf club (ST7 2UR); all are welcome and admission is £5 at the door. There will also be a raffle.
