(Division Five South Central) Sandbach Men’s 1s travelled to Alderley Edge on Saturday afternoon to face a team in the relegation zone, but showed no complacency and played some fine hockey. Dominating in all areas of the pitch, Sandbach demonstrated why they sit top of the league with a 6-0 win.

WINNINGTON PARK 3s 0, SANDBACH MEN’S 2s 1
(Division Six South Central)
On a glorious afternoon, Sandbach travelled to Moss Farm to take on Winnington Park. The game was end-to-end with chances for both sides, but after last week’s win, Sandbach dug deep and battled to secure victory, lifting them to mid-table.

WHITCHURCH DEVELOPMENT 1, SANDBACH MEN’S DEVELOPMENT 3
Travelling with only 10 players and no goalkeeper, Sandbach Men’s Development expected a tough outing at Whitchurch. However, after a shaky start, they settled into their rhythm and three excellent first-half goals calmed the nerves, securing a win.

WOMEN
SANDBACH LADIES 1s 2, DEESIDE RAMBLERS LADIES 3s 0
( Division Four South)
Sandbach Ladies 1s, currently third in the table, hosted fourth-placed Deeside on Saturday afternoon. Majestic at times, Sandbach dominated the game and should have scored more, but came away with a solid win.

SANDBACH LADIES 2s 1, ALDERLEY EDGE 5s 2
(Division Five South)
Sandbach Ladies 2s hosted Alderley Edge 5s and, despite another defeat, battled to the final whistle. The defence saw more of the ball than they had have liked, but midfield worked hard to push forward. A solo goal from Tilly Laycock, running from defence through most of the Alderley Edge team, was the highlight.

SANDBACH OTTERS 0, DEESIDE RAMBLERS OTTERS 1
Sandbach Otters hosted Deeside Otters in a well-balanced match, with both sides testing the goalkeepers. It looked destined for a goalless draw until Deeside snatched a late winner just before the final whistle. A great game played in the right spirit.
Cheshire and Greater Manchester U10 Tournament
Sandbach took two teams of their youngest players to Crewe Vagrants for the U10 tournament, with some playing their first competitive matches. True to Sandbach spirit, they were outstanding.
The White (beginners) team played three games, winning two and losing one. The Orange team played four games and remained undefeated throughout.
Well done to all who took part, to the parents for their support and to junior coach Des Walker for his weekly sessions. The hard work is paying off in developing the next generation of Sandbach Hockey Club players.
