Villagers are being urged to lodge objections to an application to create a 47-caravan storage area on a field site off Main Road in the centre of Goostrey.
Cheshire East planners are being asked to approve the application for the change of use of the site by Emery Planning of Macclesfield on behalf of Cranstone Estates based in Knutsford, (writes John Williams).
The current field site, described as land adjacent to 51 Main Road, will be replaced with hard standing, including tarmac, for the caravans.
Residents of 22 properties in the area likely to be affected by the development have been informed of the proposal by letter from Cheshire East Council.
News of the plan has already raised fears that once established, if approved, another application for change of use for the site could result in it being developed for housing.
Residents are being urged to lodge their views on the application to planners before the deadline of 23rd June.
One resident opposing the application as inappropriate said it would “significantly increase” traffic in the village on what was already an increasingly busy Main Road.
“Access to and from the site will cause difficulties for pedestrians, and there is no economic gain for residents or employment opportunities from the site,” they said.
