The nation is mourning the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96.

Serving the nation as monarch for 70 years, people across the country had joined together to celebrate her platinum jubilee earlier this year – a time to celebrate and remember The Queen’s reign.

In 1972, Queen Elizabeth II visited Congleton to mark the 700th anniversary of the town being awarded the charter in 1272, which allowed it to become a market town.

Many people across the local area will have their own personal memories of meeting The Queen during her reign.

Please share these with The Chronicle as we reflect on the life of Queen Elizabeth II. Email chronicleseries@aol.com with your memories and photographs or call 01260 273737.
